About the K11 Air

What is the MegaSun K11 Air Loft?

The MegaSun K11 Air Loft is the world's first 100% LED solarium. It uses 7,362 LEDs to deliver a precisely-controlled, even tan with no warm-up time, no UV bulbs to replace, and far less heat than a traditional sunbed. The "Air" comes from the open-loft design, full air conditioning, AquaCool mist and 3D sound system — it feels more like a wellness pod than a tanning bed.

How is LED tanning different from a traditional sunbed?

Traditional sunbeds use fluorescent tubes that need to warm up, lose intensity over time, and run hot. LED tanning is instant, consistent across the whole bed, runs cooler and more comfortably, and gives a noticeably smoother result. The K11 Air also has built-in red light Beauty LEDs alongside the tanning LEDs, so collagen stimulation happens during the same session.

What are SunControl Destinations?

SunControl lets you choose a destination and time of day for your session — for example, "Capri Sunrise" for a softer build, or "Hawaii Peak Sunshine" for a deeper, faster bronze. The bed automatically adjusts intensity, climate and ambience to match. See the full list on our Destinations page.

Red Light Therapy

What is red light therapy and what does it do?

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light (no UV) to stimulate the body's natural collagen production. Regular use can help smooth fine lines, improve skin tone and elasticity, support recovery, and is increasingly used to ease symptoms associated with the menopause. The K11 Air has 4,800+ Red Nano Beauty LEDs built in, so you get red light benefits during every tanning session.

Can I do red light therapy without tanning?

Yes. The K11 Air can run a red light only programme, with the UV LEDs switched off. This is ideal if you want the skin and wellness benefits without UV exposure — it's a non-UV, non-heat session.

How often should I use red light therapy?

For visible skin benefits, most clients see results from 3–4 sessions per week over 4–8 weeks, then drop down to 1–2 maintenance sessions per week. Our team will help you build a routine on your first visit.

Before Your Session

What skin types can use the K11 Air?

The K11 Air is suitable for skin types II–V (Fitzpatrick scale). On your first visit we'll run through a quick skin-type and health questionnaire, recommend an appropriate destination and session length, and build up from there. We don't recommend UV tanning for skin type I (always burns, never tans) — but red light only sessions are an option.

How should I prepare for a session?

Arrive with clean, fresh skin — no make-up, perfume, deodorant or heavy moisturisers, as these can interfere with an even tan or cause irritation. Shower beforehand if possible. Bring eyewear if you have your own (we provide single-use eyewear if not). Loose, comfortable clothing helps after the session.

What should I bring?

Just yourself and a valid photo ID for your first visit (we have to verify you're 18+ before any UV session). Towels, eyewear and tan accelerators are available in studio.

Safety & Frequency

Is the K11 Air safe?

Yes — when used in line with HSE guidance. The K11 Air is medically certified, calibrated to UK standards, and our team brief every new client on safe use. We follow the Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010 strictly: no under-18s, mandatory eyewear, and we monitor session frequency to keep within recommended exposure limits.

How often can I tan?

HSE guidance recommends a minimum of 24 hours between UV sessions, and no more than 60 sessions per year. We track your session history and will recommend rest days where appropriate. Red light only sessions don't count toward UV exposure and can be done daily.

Are there reasons I shouldn't use a sunbed?

Yes. Don't use a sunbed if you're under 18, pregnant, taking medication that increases light sensitivity, have a history of skin cancer, or have skin type I. If you're unsure — particularly if you take any prescription medication or have a medical condition — please speak to your GP before booking. Our health declaration form will also flag anything we should know about.
